History
The location that we call Mago Castle is a very precious place, cherished by many people from around the world. It represents the connection to the source of Life, which in the Tao tradition we call ‘Mago’. It was named ‘Mago Castle’ after an ancient era in which human beings were living in harmony with each other and with nature itself.
Ilchi Lee, the founder of Sedona Mago happened to have an extraordinary experience as he was meditating on top of Bell Rock* at night one day. He saw the most sacred and powerful energy pouring into the top of one of the red rocks across the valley from all directions, Bell Rock is one of them. Watching this energy phenomenon unfold in front of his eyes, he began to wonder what that location was all about and why the energy was gathering there. So he went out to discover it the next morning.

Once he reached the top of the red rock, where he had seen the energy phenomena happening the night before, he felt the purity and sacredness of this location and he could sense that the energy was pouring in from all around the mountain even now. At that moment he realized that the house that was built on this property was the highest positioned residence in all of the Sedona area and he decided that one day he would create a way for people to have access to this place for them to experience the energy he was feeling.
After several years of attempts, Ilchi Lee was able to purchase the property to make his dream come true. He donated this property to Sedona Mago, a nonprofit organization he had founded 23 years ago, and ever since this sacred place called Mago Castle has been dedicated as a space for meditation and contemplation.
