Preparing To Reset and Recharge: When’s the Best Season for a Retreat

There is a stirring inside you for exploration and change — a longing for calm, peace, and a renewed mind.

You decide that a wellness retreat is a great start to reaching your spiritual and mental goals — but when is the best time of year to do a retreat?

The answer depends on a few factors.

Whether you are seeking a summer escape to energize yourself for the remaining part of the year or a winter retreat to reset after the holiday season, there is a perfect time for everyone.

Let’s break down the factors that can aid you in your decision to attend a wellness retreat at Sedona Mago Center for Well-Being and Retreat.

When Is the Best Time of Year To Do a Retreat?

The best time of year for retreats at Sedona Mago Center for Well-Being and Retreat depends on the type of retreat and experience you are looking for.

The warm Sedona desert may have an impact on your experience at the wellness retreat. If you crave warmth in the middle of winter, it may be a great place to travel for your retreat. If you do not mind being cool inside or enjoy spontaneous summertime rainstorms, summer may be a better fit.

The best time of year also depends on your physical condition and the activities you want to participate in. If the weather is appropriate, we love to be immersed in the beautiful landscape in Sedona.

For those who are attending our retreats due to unforeseen circumstances (a death, illness, struggle, etc), your experience may not be dependent on the weather. Instead, the timing of your retreat may be dependent on finding a retreat that allows for movement and change in your life.

Let’s dive into the five factors that can influence the timing of your trip to Sedona Mago.

5 Factors That Can Influence When You Should Go on a Retreat

Our programs are made for you to find wellness and serenity all year long. Let’s discuss each program to see how they can support your wellness journey.

#1: Which Program You’re Doing

When researching programs, there may be some factors you want to consider before booking your retreat with us. While all of our programs can be done at any time of year, some limiting factors include schedule, weather, personal circumstances, or a particular desire for change.

Let’s discuss our different programs to find a retreat that will be the best fit for you and what you want to get out of the program.

Revitalizing Detox Retreat

Our Revitalizing Detox Retreat is offered once a month over six days. This retreat allows you to release toxins, increase your nutrient intake with healthy foods, and broaden your understanding of how stress impacts every part of your health journey.

When looking to start our Revitalizing Detox Retreat, the most popular times to start are in the New Year and toward the end of the year. January through March is a great choice for an internal reset as most people find themselves yearning for a fresh start to the new year.

Some people also enjoy the Detox Retreat toward the end of the year when they feel stressed and are consuming sugar, heavy foods, and alcohol. Thirty-eight percent of people surveyed by the American Physiological Association stated that “their stress increased during the holiday season, which can lead to physical illness, depression, anxiety, and substance misuse.”

What better way to separate your body and mind from the stress of the holidays and start fresh than with the Revitalizing Detox Retreat.

Additionally, we recommend repeating the detox program every 6 months, so timing your schedule may be an additional consideration for this retreat.

During this retreat, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Achieve consistent sleep
  • Gain mental clarity
  • Get emotional release
  • Heighten your self-awareness
  • Increase your energy
  • Relieve your pain
  • Remove toxin build-up
  • Manage your weight
  • Obtain holistic cellular renewal

Finding True Self

Our Finding True Self wellness retreat is a great option for those looking to dive deeper into themselves. This personal development retreat allows you to take time to decompress and detach from the pressure of the world. This retreat focuses on self-reflection and study.

Many people enjoy this retreat during the holidays as they prepare for the New Year. This retreat is three days and is offered once a month.

During this retreat, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Discover your authentic self
  • Hear what your heart wants
  • Reclaim your personal power
  • Get clarity on what to do next

  • Recognize negative beliefs/patterns
  • Gain new perspective
  • Rebuild your life
  • Recommit to your true self

Tao Natural Healing

Our Tao Natural Healing program is held six times a year and is a unique journey that guides you through discovering your natural healing power through five days of powerful experiences.

This retreat requires pre- and post-coursework, so having ample time and privacy to complete it is a consideration when choosing the best time to participate in the Tao Natural Healing Retreat with us.

During this retreat, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Awaken spiritual self
  • Increase inner awareness
  • Develop a creative brain
  • Learn energy medication
  • Connect to universal energy to heal
  • Learn energy healing for self and others

Tao Healing and Meditation

Our Sedona Mago Tao Healing and Meditation course relies on the principles of the “Sun-Tao” (仙道) Method. This method helps encourage healthy energy and self-awareness to create positive Qi.

Qi that is not strong can create opportunities for sickness, anger, and stress to grow in the body. Encouraging and fostering strong Qi can bring health, peace, and balance to one’s life.

This retreat is a good choice for entering a new year full of prosperity and positivity. It is held a few times a year over four days.

During this retreat, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Awaken your body’s energy level
  • Empower inner awareness
  • Discover breathing techniques for healing
  • Master meditation
  • Learn self-healing
  • Practice rhythmic movement
  • Discover your true potential
  • Learn energy motivation

#2: Your Intention

When choosing to visit a wellness retreat, various life circumstances will drive the yearning for a spiritual awakening. Some of these example include:

  • Marriage
  • Birth of a child
  • Walking through illness
  • Death of a loved one
  • Big life decisions (move, new job opportunity, etc.)
  • A general feeling of restlessness and yearning for change

When faced with a new life circumstance or challenge, it is important to provide yourself with the opportunity for new skills and positive energy to grow and conquer the challenges.

We welcome all those going through major life transitions as well as those who want to have a better connection with themselves.

#3: Your Physical Condition

Additional considerations would include physical condition and health.

Do you have any injuries or health conditions that would limit your experience or progress in healing?

Please connect with us before choosing a retreat so we can discuss the right retreat and adaptations for you to get the most out of your spiritual experience here at Sedona Mago.

Our property is not ADA-friendly and includes terrain with dirt paths and hills. Depending on the time of year, the conditions of these paths may vary. Our property is spread over five acres and requires daily walking of about ¼ of a mile.

#4: The Season

Depending on your preferences, we have options to enjoy the energy of the Sedona Vortexes, the peaceful landscape, and the invitation for relaxation any time of year.

Sedona’s temperatures range from the mid-50s during the winter to the high-90s during the summer. If the weather is too rainy, cold, or hot, we have alternate indoor locations that still provide you with the same experience you expect when you attend Sedona Mago.

We always want to make sure our guests and staff are safe no matter the weather.

#5: Your Schedule

In addition to all the factors we have discussed, schedule may be a limiting factor for you when deciding the best time to attend Sedona Mago.

To experience the same renewal and rest as others, we have different options for those who may be more limited with work or other obligations.

For example, a new retreat we added this year is one for teachers in the summer. This is a great opportunity for teachers to recharge before the upcoming school year.
