Floating Lanterns
The Ancient Korean Tradition of Floating Lanterns
Floating lanterns, or “tteunbul,” have a rich history in Korean traditions, originating during the Goryeo Dynasty. Used during Buddhist festivals, these lanterns honored ancestors and prayed for peace and prosperity. The illuminated lanterns symbolize wisdom, light, hope, and unity.
In Korean culture, each floating lantern represents a prayer or wish, signifying the release of past grievances and the embrace of new beginnings. This act connects individuals to nature, ancestors, and the universe.
Sedona Mago upholds this tradition to honor its Korean roots and provide a space for spiritual connection and healing. The floating lantern ceremony fosters community, mindfulness, and spiritual growth, inviting participants to release worries and set intentions in a serene environment.
